Take Charge of Your Emotions; Seven Steps to Overcoming Depression, Anxiety, and Anger by Dr. Linda J. Solie

This book is appropriately named by saying “steps”. This is not a quick fix, fluffy, just to feel good book. It is a book that needs to be read, re-read, studied, cross referenced, applied, and prayed about. I think the title pretty much explains what the book is about and a long, drawn out description is not necessary. This book has some really good information and seems to basically teach you to be your counselor. It is a lot of work to follow the steps in this book and not for everyone. Some people may need more peer support where this is more for self-doers. It is not a SELF-book, but a Christ-will-help-you book, but you still need to process through steps and your emotions, not just pray it all away. I think that this book is much more realistic than many self-help type books since it is not a quick-fix, cure-all, but a step by step process to overcome negative feelings and emotions. It can get confusing at times with how to follow the steps as they are detailed and not automatic, but this book’s purpose is to stop our automatic response to stressors and instead follow these steps.
